STEP 15 – ENDOCRINE SYSTEM

broken image

The Endocrine System is responsible for releasing hormones into the bloodstream. This lets the hormones travel to cells in other parts of the body.

When we think of the word "hormones" we often think of reproductive hormones but there are many hormones that are directing functions all over the body.

The endocrine hormones help control mood, growth and development, the way our organs work, metabolism, and reproduction. The Endocrine System regulates how much of each hormone is released.

The Endocrine System is made up of the Hypothalamus, Pituitary Gland, Pineal Gland, Thyroid Gland, Pancreas, Parathyroid Glands, Adrenal Glands and the Ovaries and Testes.

When this system is out of balance people will experience dehydration, fatigue, stomach upset, skin issues, anger/rage, thyroid hormone imbalance, irregular sugar levels, irregular menstruation, intense monthly cycles, mood swings, low body temperature, insomnia, weight gain, and headaches.

TIP: To find the reflex points for the Endocrine System, start with your big toes and work your way down to the heel of the foot. Most if not all the Endocrine System reflex points are in this area.

In the ear, this reflex point can be found just above the lobe.

In the hand, start at the upper pad of your thumb, continue down to the base of your thumb and then upward to between the pointer and middle fingers in a V shape.
